Soft White Sill, Kitchen Casement
A soft white sill beneath a bank of casements, set deep enough to line up with the cabinet run and hold cookbooks. The flat front and tight radius keep it reading as architecture, not trim.
About this solid surface sill
Solid surface is homogeneous through its thickness, which is why the build-up edge can be machined to any profile without a visible glue line — the seam disappears entirely. It is non-porous, so condensation running off the glass cannot soak in, and a scratch sands out rather than needing refinishing. 77 colours are available, from Glacier White through the deeper stone-look patterns.
Kitchen sills
A kitchen sill takes more punishment than most — splashes at the sink, heat and steam, things set down on it without thinking. Depth usually gets set by the counter run below it. Whatever the room, the sill is cut to your opening rather than trimmed to fit on site — length, depth, horn projection and corner treatment are all set before it is machined.
Specifying one like it
Measure jamb to jamb, then the depth from the window frame to where you want the front edge to land, and the horn length past each side if the sill returns into the wall.
